Webinar Overview
Stainless steel is widely used for architectural, industrial, commercial and marine environments because of its unchanging appearance and corrosion resistance. These excellent experiences mean that users may assume that stainless steels will withstand all conditions of exposure, design and fabrication practices - sometimes with unfortunate results.
This webinar looks at the correct selection, processing/joining and use of a stainless steel in three broad chloride environments:
  • Atmospheric exposure including superstructure of boats
  • Splash/cyclic immersion zones
  • Full immersion including flow and stagnant conditions

In tune with Australasian practice, examples will deal with duplex and austenitic stainless steels. While superficial tea staining will be considered, this webinar will concentrate on more aggressive conditions and how to obtain the expected service. Two application areas are desalination plant (both seawater and brackish/wastewater treatment) and marine scrubbers for exhaust gases.

Presenter: Dr Graham Sussex, Technical Specialist
Graham is a materials expert with over 30 years experience and more than 600 technical publications to his name. Stainless steel is his specialty.
