ASSDA Triumphs at 2024 World Stainless Industry Awards

 
We are thrilled to share that ASSDA has proudly received the Bronze Award in the Market Development
category at the prestigious 2024 Stainless Steel Industry Awards, hosted by World Stainless.

The award ceremony, held on 23 May 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye, marks a significant milestone for
ASSDA and underscores Australia’s influential presence in the global stainless steel industry.

The Bronze Award was presented to ASSDA for the Stainless Steel Coastal Fencing Solution in collaboration with its Member, Stainless Steel Wire & Mesh (SSWM). Coastal fencing, often overlooked, plays a critical role in environmental conservation by facilitating dune restoration and protecting and rehabilitating local vegetation to enhance natural recovery. Australia’s coastal environments are notoriously challenging for infrastructure due to their harsh, corrosive conditions. Recognising these challenges,
the Northern Beaches Council engaged Toolijooa Environment Restoration with designing and installing a 450m coastal fence on Curl Curl Beach in NSW, aiming for:

  • A minimum 15-year lifespan without replacement
  • Minimal maintenance for the first five years
  • Effective mitigation of sand movement within the dune systems
  • Restriction of access to both dogs and people.
     

SSWM supplied its ‘Strong Lock’ product in grade 316 to meet the stringent demands. The local council has now adopted stainless steel as the standard for coastal fencing, transitioning from traditional galvanised steel wire. SSWM has played a pivotal role in delivering a stainless steel solution that has now become the new benchmark in ecological management and restoration efforts. This recognition is ASSDA’s third accolade at the World Stainless Stainless Steel Industry Awards. In 2023, we were honoured with a Silver Award for Best New Development for the Duplex Wire Rope Cable Solution by ASSDA Member and Accredited Fabricator Arcus Wire Group. In 2020, we celebrated another Silver Award for Best New Development with the Murray Irrigation PIIOP Round 3 Project by ASSDA Member and Accredited Fabricator AWMA Water Control Solutions.
