Join us for an interactive afternoon exploring stainless steel in action along the Brisbane River.
Starting at 3.00pm, we’ll begin and finish at Felons in Howard Smith Wharves, setting off on a guided ~5km river circuit showcasing key stainless steel applications across some of Brisbane’s most iconic infrastructure.
The walk will take us along the Brisbane Riverwalk, across the Story Bridge, through the Holman Street precinct where early stainless steel trials were undertaken, and onward to Kangaroo Point. We’ll also cross the Kangaroo Point Bridge before looping back along the river to Felons.
Along the way, we’ll unpack how stainless steel has been specified across these projects, from grade and finish selection to performance in harsh river environments. We’ll explore durability considerations, ASSDA’s role in influencing best-practice specification, and practical strategies for minimising tea staining. There are also several design elements along the route that will prompt discussion around detailing and long-term performance in public infrastructure.
The walk will take approximately 2 hours including stops for discussion and technical insights.
You will gain both a design and fabrication perspective, with insights from:
- Richard Matheson, Market and Industry Development Manager, ASSDA
- Matthew Brown, Director, Southern Stainless
We'll finish back at Felons for food, drinks, networking, and a bit of stainless trivia.
